Logistics.
The ‘Spiritual Journey of a Thousand Secrets’ will be held at:
Thorpe Woodlands Adventure Centre, Shadwell, Thetford, Norfolk IP24 2RX.
This is a sequential course, so attending all three weekends is necessary for the full experience. Each weekend builds upon the previous one.
The dates in 2024 are:
13-15 September
4-6 October and
22-24 November 2024
Please arrive between 4:00pm and 5:30pm to settle in.
Dinner will be served at 6:00pm sharp. The first session will be held shortly after dinner (7:30pm).
On Sundays, lunch will be served at 12:00noon. We must all vacate the building, leaving it clean and in good shape, no later than 2:00pm.
Travel arrangements:
Each person will be responsible for making their own way to and from the retreat centre. However, we will arrange a WhatsApp Group so that participants can make arrangments to travel together and to find the best travel options.
Some of the items you will want to bring include:
__A notebook and pen for taking notes and journaling (not attached to your phone).
__Towel/soap/shampoo/hairbrush/toothbrush /toothpaste.
__Refillable waterbottle.
__Torch (not attached to your phone).
__Alarm clock (not attached to your phone).
__Walking shoes or boots.
__Rain gear.
__Warm, comfortable clothes.
__Heavy socks to keep your feet warm in the prayer room.
—Medications, etc.
If you have any medical conditions, please let us know.
If you have any food allergies, please let us know.
If you have any known physical or mental conditions that might put yourself or others at risk or that might cause an emergency situation, please consider not coming. Emergency services are not near, and we want everyone to be safe. Thank you.
Regarding smartphones. It was strongly suggested at one of the Taster Sessions that this be a smartphone-free event, allowing us all to unplug from technology each weekend. Phone service and wifi are patchy in the woods anyway, it might be easier to not use your phone.
So, if you wish, you may either turn your phone off and keep it among your belongings, or you can turn it in and place it in ‘the box’ during a small ceremony on Friday evening. Your phone will be returned to you on Sunday mornings for making travel arrangements and taking photos of new friends. If you put your phone in the box, please turn it off and include your charging cable so it can be charged before it is returned to you.
An incoming emergency phone number will be supplied closer to the time, but this special phone will ring in the group sessions, so please make sure that whoever is calling you realizes that it is only for emergencies.
Intentions: Part of the intention of this retreat and the group is to work together, to help out where possible, to be kind to each other, and to watch over each other. If you see someone who needs help, please be there for them. We all thank you.
